1. Trenton

Major General William S. Rosecrans.

Large armies first entered Georgia in September 1863, when the village of Trenton was briefly occupied by Union Major General William S. Rosecrans and part of his Army of the Cumberland.

In November a division of Major General William T. Sherman's corps destroyed part of the town.
