L14. Old Governor's Mansion 


The Governor's Mansion under Federal occupation, November 1864

Completed in 1839, the mansion was occupied by eight governor's, including Joseph E. Brown, until the state capital was moved from Milledgeville to Atlanta in 1868. It served as headquarters for General Sherman on November 23 & 24, 1864, and is now an impressive museum.
