Syrup Makin’ and Storytellin’ - Saturday, November 1, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site, near Juliette.  The traditional syrup cook-off was an important fall event on middle Georgia farms, and featured family and community gathering for work and play.  Watch demonstrations of the sugar cane mill, syrup kettle, steam engine, woodstove cooking, plus storytelling.  Jarrell Plantation was visited by part of Sherman’s army during its “March to the Sea.”  Admission $2.50 to $4.00 per person.  Directions: Southbound I-75 to Exit #185, east on GA Hwy. 18, look for signs.  Northbound I-75 to Exit #171, north on U.S. Hwy. 23, then east on GA Hwy. 18, look for signs.  478-986-5172, http://gastateparks.org/info/jarrell.
96th Annual Stilesboro Chrysanthemum Show - Saturday, November 1, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, Historic Stilesboro Academy, near Cartersville.  Featuring many varieties of chrysanthemums grown by ladies of the Stilesboro Improvement Club, and displayed in artistic designs at Stilesboro Academy.  Built in 1859, the Academy was once used by General Sherman.  Enjoy lunch in the Tea Room - homemade Brunswick stew, chicken salad and fresh-baked cakes.  Show admission: Adults $2.00, Children $1.00.  Directions: Take I-75 to Exit #288, follow Georgia Hwy. 113 south approximately 10 miles, then left on Taff Road to the Academy.  770-386-6012, www.notatlanta.org.
The Battle of Atlanta Reenactment - Friday through Sunday, November 7 through 9, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Nash Farm Battlefield Park, 4361 Jonesboro Road, Hampton.  Reenactment held on site of cavalry raid during the Atlanta Campaign.  Step back in time to witness battles from the Atlanta Campaign.  Talk to the soldiers, and visit their camps, with demonstrations, sutlers, blacksmithing, music and food.  Friday is “school day”, with “battles” at 2:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.  Admission: Adults $13.00, Children $8.00.  Directions: I-75 to Exit #221 (Jonesboro Road), then west about 6 miles.  Entrance is on the left.  404-229-0761, www.atlantacampaign.com.
Kennesaw Mountain Trails Workday - Saturday, November 8, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  The Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club helps maintain the trails at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  There are no membership requirements other than a willingness to work.  Trail building experience not necessary.  Meet at the park maintenance area behind the Visitor Center.  The Park provides all necessary tools and safety equipment.  770-427-4686, www.nps.gov/kemo/index.htm.

Sacred Sounds at the Ringgold Depot - Friday, November 14, 7:30 pm, Historic Ringgold Depot, 155 Depot Street, Ringgold.  Gospel music featuring professional entertainers and groups.  Admission: $5.00.  Directions: I-75 to Exit #348, north on Ga. The Ringgold Opry - Saturday, November 15, 7:00 pm, Historic Ringgold Depot, 155 Depot Street, Ringgold.  An evening of acoustic bluegrass and country music.  Professionals and amateurs alike join together in jam sessions and concerts.  Free admission.  Directions: I-75 to Exit #348, north on Ga. A History of Kolb Farm - Monday, November 17, 7:00 pm , Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitors Center .  Andy and Kim Cole, Cobb County educators and longtime Kennesaw Mountain volunteers, will discuss the Battle of Kolb Farm as well as the Kolb family.  Admission is free.  Directions: I-75 to Exit #269, west on Barrett Parkway for approximately 3 miles, then left onto Old Highway 41.  Turn right at the next traffic light, Stilesboro Road , and the visitors center is on the left.  770-427-4686, www.nps.gov/kemo/.
Battle of Griswoldville Commemoration - Saturday, November 22, 10: 00 am to 2:00 pm, Griswoldville Battlefield State Historic Site.  Enjoy Civil War soldier-life presentations, walking tours and a commemoration program.  Griswoldville was the largest battle during Sherman’s “March to the Sea.”  Free admission.  Directions: I-16 to Exit #2, east on U.S. Hwy. 80 to GA Hwy. 57, approx. 6 miles east and look for signs.  478-986-5172, http://gastateparks.org/info/jarrell.
Historic Holiday Candlelight Tour - Friday & Saturday, November 28 & 29, 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Sunday, November 30, 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Augusta and surrounding areas.  The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson, Meadow Garden, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and the 1797 Ezekiel Harris House in Augusta, as well as Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site in Beech Island, SC, will be hosting a Historic Holiday Candlelight Tour.  Join us to enjoy the decorations and sweets while exploring these important homes.  Admission: Adults $15.00, students $5.00.  706-724-0436, http://historicaugusta.org/.
